Abstract

MGMP based Lesson Study has been implemented under support of Sampoerna Foundation and UPI since 2008. The lesson study was conducted in four cycles of 5 meetings. Science teachers worked collaboratively with UPI staffs in conducting research lesson for promoting student active learning. As a result, it was found that the improvement of teacher’s competences, self confident, awareness of learning problems. According to the survey of teacher’s perception of lesson activity in improving teacher’s competency, it was found that 38%, 57%, and 5%, were strongly agree, agree, and not agree, respectively.

Lesson study implementation in SMPN 2 West Karawang has contributed to improvement of school environment, teacher’s attitude, student’s learning activity in science. Post lesson study implementation in science will be followed up by implementing school based lesson study at school partners within the working group through empowering trained facilitators.
